starch-fest in my kitchen

4426373503 0e05f743f6 starch fest in my kitchenGeez, I didn’t realize I was in such a starch craze. Might trim off a few pounds if I start focusing on greens instead!

Why the starch-fest? Well, 1. it is part of my culinary repertoire that I still want to master, and 2. it is cost-effective to make your own [bread, focaccia, pizza]. Therefore: starch-forays in the past two months:

1. Focaccia
2. Pasta dough
3. Polenta (and leftover polenta)
4. No-knead bread (lives in my fridge—I make a small loaf as needed!)
5. Pizza dough
6. Risotto

Oh and reason number 3: I am living in Italy. And what better place to focus on all the yummy breads, pastas, risottos, pizzas… you get the idea. Of course I am having a starch-fest!

Since we are on the topic… I even went so far as to upgrade my blog’s categories a bit and gave ‘starch’ its very own door. If you walk through, you will also find a few family favorites:

1. Potatoes Anna (my boys have been begging me to make this again soon)
2. Leftover Bread
3. Potato Fennel Gratin (OMG yum)
4. Make ahead, guest-worthy Mac & Cheese

Since I am still unrelentingly on the topic: anybody have a great recipe for croissants? Crepes? Gnocchi? Pilaf?

Ohhh, I do so like starches too! :-) I love that you’re making all these things. :-) I hope to start tackling some of my “most want to make” items next month. :-)

Hi, I found my stove top grill and made the eggplant percorino. My family loved it. Thanks. Now I’m waiting patiently for your lunch spot recommendations in Florence. Can’t wait to visit. Your fan in New Orleans, Lori

Krista: me too! yes do make a list of ‘most want to make’ so many of us have them;)))). What is on yours?

Lori: thank you so much for commenting! So often we don’t know who is listening and it feels GREAT to hear from visitors—esp. of the frequent variety!!
